Cwtch is a Welsh word that has no literal English translation, the nearest translation would be a cuddle, hug or snuggle. But a Cwtch is much more. A cwtch is evocative – it has the magical quality of transporting someone back to the safety of their childhood. if you give someone a cwtch, you’re figuratively giving them a ‘safe place’. (It also means cupboard!!) If you are not sure how to pronounce Cwtch it rhymes with butch.
